Sitting all day at a desk; holding the phone between your ear and shoulder; working on laptopsand carrying heavy computer bags, purses or briefcases all take a toll on your posture. Not only do your shoulders become rounded and you suffer from a sore neck but your hip flexors and hamstrings become tight. So what to do? Sit straight!Strengthening your core will help you sit straighter, feel stronger and taller. I blend of classic Pilates and modern fitness exercises you can do on a daily basis can help strengthen your core. While sitting in a chair simply notice if you are sitting straight. Can you feel your SIT bones (the bony prominences that are at the lowermost part of the pelvis and what you feel after your first bike ride of the season). If you feel your SIT bones then you cannot be slouching. This simple reminder can help you straighten your back and improve your posture every time you sit down.
